A vital first step towards sustainability in water use is reducing the amount of water you consume. Measures such as ensuring there are no leaking taps, installing low flow shower heads and aerators on taps and adjusting flush volumes on toilets are cost effective waysto ease the strain on our water system.There are also many simple behaviour changes that can make a huge difference.
Water Saving Products
There are also products that can save you water with very little effort involved, such as the Australian Made Ecoverta range, found in our shop here. The Ecoverta uses the energy in water flow itself to seamlessly divert the water at full mains pressure using no external power, alowing you to water your garden, fill a water tank, top up your swimming pool or many other alternatives to simply
sending it down the drain.

A Water Tank is a good option to explore once practical water efficiency measures have been carried out.It is very important to have a good idea of what you want to do with the stored waterand allow for seasonal variations. An example is a rain water tank used to waterthe garden might not collect enough rain in summer when the garden needs it most.
GreywaterReuse Systems
Greywater is used water from showers,clothes washing,laundry sinks. Water from toilets is called Black Water and kitchen water is also classed as black water due to the oil and fats it may contain. Simple diversion systems allow grey water to flow to the garden using gravity. If you can’t access you plumbing at a point higher than the garden the water may have to be pumped onto the garden. There are also more complicated treatment systems that may allow for reuse within the home.
